BEST TIME TO VISIT LAKE MBURO

Lake Mburo is an all-year-round destination, though the dry season from June to September and December to February is typically the best time to visit for wildlife viewing. During these months, the animals gather around waterholes, making them easier to spot.

The wet season (from March to May and October to November) brings lush greenery to the park, attracting birdlife and providing beautiful landscapes, though it can make some of the roads more challenging for travel. It’s also a great time for birdwatching as migratory species are more abundant.

GETTING THERE

Lake Mburo National Park is easily accessible from Kampala, just a 4-5 hour drive along the Masaka Road. It’s a short drive from Mbarara (about 30 kilometers), and most visitors opt to drive or hire a private vehicle or tour operator for the journey.

Alternatively, the park is accessible via charter flights from Entebbe International Airport to Mbarara, followed by a short transfer to the park.
