TRIP OVERVIEW
An intimate fly-in escape to Bwindi, pairing two unforgettable gorilla encounters with the quiet luxury of Gorilla Forest Lodge.
A short, beautifully paced journey created for travellers who want to experience Uganda’s mountain gorillas in comfort, privacy and with minimal road travel. This itinerary combines seamless airport assistance, scheduled or private flights into southwestern Uganda, two separate gorilla trekking experiences and time to connect with the conservation and community stories that surround Bwindi.
The journey is deliberately unhurried. Rather than treating the gorillas as a single checklist experience, it allows two days in the forest, giving guests the rare opportunity to experience different gorilla families, different sections of the forest and the changing atmosphere of Bwindi from one day to the next.

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met airside or on exit from immigration by our representative and assisted through arrival formalities before being transferred privately to your hotel.
The first evening is intentionally easy. There are no scheduled activities, allowing time to recover from the international flight, settle into Uganda and enjoy a relaxed dinner before the journey into the southwest begins.

After breakfast, transfer privately to Entebbe Airport for your flight to southwestern Uganda. The flight dramatically shortens what would otherwise be a full day overland journey and offers beautiful aerial views across Uganda’s lakes, farmland and highlands.
On arrival at the regional airstrip, you will be met by your private guide and transferred through the rolling hills toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Your home for the next three nights is Gorilla Forest Lodge, one of Bwindi’s most intimate and iconic forest properties. The lodge sits close to the forest edge and offers a strong sense of place, combining privacy, comfort and direct access to the gorilla trekking area.
The afternoon is left at leisure. Settle into your suite, enjoy the surrounding forest and prepare for your first trek the following morning.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park briefing point for your first gorilla trekking experience.
Accompanied by Uganda Wildlife Authority guides and trackers, you will enter Bwindi’s ancient forest in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek varies in length depending on the gorillas’ location and movements, but the experience of finally encountering them in their natural habitat is deeply rewarding.
Once the family is located, you will spend up to one hour observing their behaviour at close range. The experience is often quiet and immersive, with time to notice the smaller details: grooming, feeding, juvenile play, communication and the subtle dynamics within the family.
After returning to the lodge for lunch and rest, the afternoon shifts from wildlife to the people and conservation work surrounding Bwindi. Depending on the final programme, this may include a meaningful community visit, a conservation discussion, a women led initiative or another carefully selected experience that gives context to the relationship between tourism, livelihoods and gorilla conservation.
The day ends back at the lodge with time to relax and reflect.

Today offers the rare luxury of returning to the forest for a second gorilla encounter.
No two treks are ever the same. A second permit may introduce guests to a different gorilla family, a different forest route and entirely different behaviours. Weather, light, the movement of the gorillas and the dynamics of the family all change the character of the experience.
For photographers in particular, a second trek is invaluable. It removes some of the pressure of trying to capture everything in a single hour and allows more time to simply observe, understand and photograph naturally.
After the trek, return to Gorilla Forest Lodge for a relaxed afternoon. Guests can enjoy the forest surroundings, take time over lunch, rest, review photographs or simply enjoy their final evening in Bwindi.

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Entebbe.
On arrival, you will be assisted with your connection to your international departure. Depending on flight timings, a private transfer, day room or relaxed meal in Entebbe can be arranged before departure.
This brings the journey to a close after five days shaped around one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife encounters, experienced with the time, privacy and comfort it deserves.
